Even easier, I set atapi-cd-dma-enabled to zero, as described in the ata man 
page.
This can be done with the `eeprom' command or from the GRUB menu.  I chose to
do it in /boot/solaris/bootenv.rc because I wanted a backup copy.

Now, I can browse a data CD or play an audio CD with no SCSI errors.  Thanks!
