Great > If i want to delete my application that showed up on the main launch > menu and get it again on the main launch menu, How do i do that? You simply edit the desktop file pertaining to your application and remove X-Sun-Quick-Start from the Category list or simply remove the desktop file altogether. > For example if i remove firefox from the main launch menu, How do i get > it back? I know we can do it by right-clicking on the main launch menu. When you right click on the main launch menu button on the panel it provides you with an option to edit menus, this only allows you to edit launch sub menu items, e.g. applications and administration. It does not allow you to add/remove items from the quick launch area (the top of the launch menu itself). How are your removing firefox from the main launch menu ? > Is there any command or any the file that needs to be put in the right > location by which i can get it back on the main launch menu. As I said the .desktop file is the only means of adding/removing items from the top of the launch menu (known as the quick start area). cheers Matt > > Thanks for all the support. > > Thanks, > Varmauddaraju. > > On Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 3:00 PM, Matt Keenan <Matt.Keenan at sun.com > <mailto:Matt.Keenan at sun.com>> wrote: > > Varmauddaraj, > > Really depends one where on the Launch menu you want to add the menu > item. > Most of the structure is hard coded in gnome-panel code itself. > > If you want to add to one fo the Launch sub menus e.g. > Applications, Preferences etc. then you simply create a new > .desktop file and place it > in /usr/share/applications, you just need to set the correct Category > in the .desktop file. > > You can add items to the main Launch menu it self, at the top of it, by > again adding a new desktop file, and adding "X-Sun-Quick-Start" to the > Category entry, see firefox.desktop as an example. > > This will add the item to the top of the Launch menu, and that's the > only > real choice... > > Hope this helps. > > cheers > > Matt > > > > uddaraju varma wrote: > > Hi > > I need help in creating shortcuts of my application under Launch > menu bar which is on the desktop of solaris. > > I know we can do it by right clicking on the launch menu and > press add a new item to the menu. > > Actually i want my package to create a entry under Launch menu > bar which is on the desktop of the solaris.
