Hi all,
I thought I'd post a quick email to let everyone know that I was
successful in getting the FreeNX client QtNX working on my laptop running
OpenSolaris 101rc2. I grabbed Ricardo's freenx archive & followed his build
instructions to compile the latest version of freenx & I used the latest
nomachine 3.3 version sources. Those compiled w/ no issues. :-) My primary
interest was getting a client working though since I work as a Sun SSE by
day & needed access to my remote system for access to email, etc while on
site since VPN/Email access is blocked. Anyway, I spent some time looking
for a version of QtNX that was known to work & I found a version for
CentOS. I grabbed the source rpm, & was able to get it compile w/ out too
much hassle. So how does it work? Well, I'll be honest, my laptop is
setup triple boot. Wincrap, Mac OS X, & OpenSolaris. I haven't needed to
reboot back to either WinCrap or OS X since I got QtNX working. :-) It was
one of the items I really wanted/needed to get working on OpenSolaris. Yeah,
I know I could just use the NoMachine Client under VirtualBox & I was doing
that quite a bit, but I love having a "Native" solution. If anyone would
like more information, I'd be happy to provide it or the source. Hope
everyone has a great holiday. Take care.
