No matter I change the volume level through panel mixer applet or gnome-volume-control, the sound in Songbird/Rhythmbox is pretty broken, like being tore up into noncontinuous parts. But their own volume control is fine.
The difference here is that the sound doesn't go away here. I don't have to reboot the machine to restore. Thanks, -Alfred
