In general, I was able to remove the IM popup with the method you described
('gconf-tool-2....'), although it sometimes reappears:
* I have a running session as user 'user_a' on a (sunray-)server 'server_x'. I
deactivated the IM stuff and everything is fine (i.e. no IM-popups).
* Then I start as user 'user_b' a ssh session with X11 forwarding on a
different (non-sunray) server 'server_y':
ssh -X user_b at y_server
* I then start emacs and I get the again the IM-popup (annoyingly hiding
the minibuffer line of the emacs window).
I tried:
* to deactivate IM as 'user_a' on 'server_x' => didn't work.
* to deactivate IM as 'user_b' on 'server_x' => didn't work.
any suggestions?
