Well, startup time could be better. On my machine under VirtualBox it takes almost 25s for the gnome desktop to lurch into life - WindowMaker is about 1s. So I tried running some stuff from the menus. I stumbled across bug 3179 straight away - on pretty well every app. 2nd app I tried, Avant Window Navigator, didn't work. (Bug 5855.) I installed it to see what it was, but still have no idea. I'm not sure this is a bug or not, as I can't test it again: when I first started gedit it came up full screen. Is that it being wrong, or have I run gedit before and left it fullscreen (I don't think I have, but can't be sure)? Why do we need 'Image organizer' and 'Image viewer' in the menus? (Why is eog there at all? You need to browse images before viewing one, and I must admit to preferring gqview for this.) The screenshot tool doesn't allow you to select a region. (Bug 5856, although I'm sure this has been discussed before..) Does evolution talk to Exchange 2007 yet? That would be a major draw. One thing I would like to see is the desktop behave more sensibly under VirtualBox (and presumably other emulators). There's a bunch of stuff that doesn't make much sense in that sort of environment - could it be masked out? (See bug 5857.) It would be nice to select an alternate session if you want to login in a new window. Xephyr just exits. (Bug 5858.) Tracker doesn't work for me. There's an icon, I type in text, it never finds anything. Both the users and groups tool, and the services tool, need a *lot* of work. What else? More themes; more backgounds. Oh, and fix the gnome-terminal PgUp/PgDn/Home/End bugs. -- -Peter Tribble http://www.petertribble.co.uk/ - http://ptribble.blogspot.com/
