Hi,

Here's my wish list:

- I'd like to have a bird's view screen of all configured Gnome
workspaces, when pressing a certain button or key combination (my
favorite one is the thumb key on my Logitech M-BA47 mouse), just like
Spaces in Mac OS X.

- Just like with Enlightenment 0.16, I'd like to switch through
configured workspaces with the mouse wheel when the pointer is over the
desktop (The mouse key already works that way when the mouse is over the
Workspace Switcher).

- Just like Enlightenment 0.16, I'd like to see a sometimes updated
overview of all windows in all workspaces in the Workspace Switcher
(makes only sense if the Workspace Switcher can be enlarged - and maybe
placed on the desktop as a separate window).

- A function to avoid that a newly launched program or new popup of an
exiting application appears on top of the screen and/or steals the
keyboard focus when the user is just typing text into another window
(maybe at a configurable typing rate). The new window should either
appear one window below the windows which has the keyboard focus or
minimized, with or without a (very slowly) blinking icon. This should
work with any keyboard focus policy.
The described function apparently is already partially implemented: When
starting Firefox, GIMP, or the Screen shot program and right after that
(while that program is launching) start typing in text in an already
open Gnome Text Editor or the Gnome Terminal, the behavior is as
described. But when starting OpenOffice 3.0 or Opera 9.63, those
applications grab the focus (I tested "pointer" keyboard focus policy).
Would it be possible with Gnome to force *any* application to not steal
the focus if another application is receiving keyboard inputs at a
certain rate?

Regards,

Bernd
