If it was an upgrade then maybe the uid's of the users changed? i.e.
permission problem. Login in as root in single user and delete all the
files in /var/tmp.
Another common problem is that the font cache files are corrupted.
root at prae> find /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts -name fonts.cache-1 -exec
rm {} \;
root at prae> fc-cache -s
If it is none of the above, try a 'safe' login as a normal user. This
should give you a single xterm. Run '/usr/dt/config/Xsession.jds' and
see if there is any errors.
