Nice call.  So these seem to be coming from various files under 
$HOME/.local/share/applications/.  It would seem that gnome-cleanup 
doesn't clean these up, since I did run gnome-cleanup first to see if it 
would correct the problem.  Bug in gnome-cleanup?
