Hi Alex,
The %doc lines in the spec file is to generate the copyright/license
information for the SVr4 package as I understand. Usually all the
copyright/license related files (COPYING, AUTHORS, ChangeLog for
example) in the source tarball will be explicitly included here. And
when you install the package, these files will go to
/usr/share/doc/PACKAGE_NAME.

What's the version for your CBE? I'm using CBE 1.6.2 and it supports
%doc key word. Not sure this is supported in early releases. BTW, to
comment out the lines is also fine as the copyright/license information
is only necessary for distribution purpose.

Normally pkgbuild will only search the ".../packages/BUILD/SUNWfoo"
directory for the files. "-d dir" can change the root of relative paths
to the "dir" subdirectory

Some copyright/license files are big. COPYING in FileZilla source is
about 18K. So we choose to compress it. And some are small. ChangeLog is
only 85bytes for FileZilla.
