It should be feasible to write a script that takes the last CDE
package set and converts it into a shape that makes it possible
to install CDE as an add-on.  At this time it is unclear how much
effort this would be, but I guess not too much.

Such a script does not neccessarily have to come from Sun.
Of course it would be much better if Sun gave us CDE as an add-on
CD image, much like the first Gnome versions were distributed.
