Hi David,
That "white" border seems to be the "shadow" :)
Seems to be some issue with the default values on the ATI card, I've managed to
get a more pleasing effect by running ccsm and editing the "Window Decoration"
options to be :
Shadow Radius: 18
Shadow Opacity: 0.8
Shadow Color: #00000 (Black)
Shadow OffsetX: 16
Shadow OffsetY: 0
I can't remember what the default values were, maybe you could post them here...
