I know I'd like to see this happen; there are a number of things that could be
done if
one knew about the internals of libDtSvc, or could enhance (say) dtterm or
dtmail.
Right off, I don't buy the argument that everyone should just all get together
and use
{GNOME, KDE, whatever}. If enough people want something to participate in
maintaining
it, I don't see that that harms the progress or availability of other choices.
The problem
is mostly those people that carry advocacy of _their_ favorite to the point of
putting
down other alternatives.
So who's got enough bandwidth, is practiced enough at cgi scripts, is
recognized well
enough to be trusted to protect email addresses from spammers, and probably is
_not_
affiliated with one of the COSE/CDE sponsors, that would be willing to set up a
website
where people that wanted CDE open-sourced could leave their email address?
And who knows folks at one or more of the "original sponsors" that would be
willing to
investigate their company's take on this notion, and able to present it
favorably and
effectively?
I think that would answer what TOG is asking for - show a level of interest,
_and_
get some indication of tolerance or support from the "original sponsors".
