That almost did it :) The path for gdm is now correct, I have svc set right, and I have the gdm config files. However, custom.conf under /etc/X11/gdm/ is more or less empty. And gdmsetup : [root at alpha:~]$ gdmsetup Failed to connect to socket, sleep 1 second and retry Trying failed command again. Try 2 of 5. Failed to connect to socket, sleep 1 second and retry Trying failed command again. Try 3 of 5. Failed to connect to socket, sleep 1 second and retry Trying failed command again. Try 4 of 5. Failed to connect to socket, sleep 1 second and retry Trying failed command again. Try 5 of 5. Command failed 5 times, aborting. In case this just requires an ordinary gdm.conf file, I have no problem. If, however, it is somehow tweaked, I am lost once again. This message posted from opensolaris.org
