I have no idea why your install of OpenSolaris looks so much worse then
Windows XP or even Ubuntu (which version btw?). I do know that on my
computer OpenSolaris fonts are as good as those on windows/ubuntu (I
run those OSses too. The creen and fonts is/are crystal clear. No need
for cleartype. I do run my monitor in it's native setting though.

People unfamiliar whith OpenSolaris on my system often ask me which
linux distro it is. They like/love the looks. So I guess, it must be
somthing on your system.
