Hi Karl, You can't restrict user to a number of background only with just OpenSolaris Desktop. You can only restrict the users to one background through the mandatory setting, hence the user can't change it. As the gconf key is for system wide or user specific.
SDM does fill the gap to manage configuration value per user.
