I don't think it would work, since LD_LIBRARY_PATH is modified by the
run-mozilla.sh script, and its libs added at the beginning.

I'll leave it as-is for now. I've only noticed one negative side-effect
so far: I can't install a module if the .xpi file has an accent in its
path (a weird error pops up).

Are you sure? The file sizes are different, and one of them gave me a
?Minefield? binary, the builds don't have the same date:

$ pkginfo -l -d  firefox-3.0-en-US-solaris-10-fcs-i386-pkg |egrep
'PKGINST|VERSION'

   PKGINST:  SFWfirefox
   VERSION:  3.0,REV=2008.07.02.01.34.52

$ pkginfo -l -d  firefox-3.0.en-US-solaris-10-fcs-i386-pkg |egrep
'PKGINST|VERSION'

   PKGINST:  SFWfirefox
   VERSION:  3.0,REV=2008.06.25.02.43.23
