gst-launch is a pain in the a** in user friendlyness. I won't say it
sucks, but for me, converting the ogg files with vorbis tools to wav
files and then code them to mp3 files with lame was very easy.
All CLI, but that's not a bad thing ;-)

Thanks for your input though.
I finally -DID- manage to compile gst-plugins-ugly -AFTER- I compiled
mplayer with all its deps (with the CBE). Lots of things (useful for
the ugly plugins) were found after that;-)

I even have DVD playback now with totem!

The only thing that is very very difficult to achive is support for
the MS plugins (wvm / mms i.e.). Those files are only supported by
mplayer right now (so I don't complain .. mplayer works very well).

Multimedia is very well supported by mplayer-plugin once mplayer is
installed. Almost everything works in firefox (which can't be said for
the totem plugins. They do almost nothing).

All in all I'm a happy man ;-)
