I've tried this. Built pngcrush (now available in SFE) and
recompressed all pngs with the -brute option. The total
saving for /usr/share/icons was
852k (49884 -> 49032).
There's more space to be saved with the larger pixmaps like
background images (/usr/share/gnome/pixmaps/backgrounds/*)
312k (5372 -> 5060)
and the rest of the theme images (/usr/share/themes/*)
32k (3488 -> 3456)
So that's 1196k saved on SUNWgnome-themes.
Not sure how of this saving is left after the compression
during the CD image build, though.
