I only have an SVR4 traditional package, which can also be installed on OpenSolaris. If Murray hangs around here, I wouldn't mind helping him get VLC compiled and put into his repository, however. It is, after all, on his wishlist :) In any event, the next VLC (1.0.2?) should be significantly easier to compile since it will have changes from the tickets I opened with VLC's project (most have already been fixed in trunk).
Unfortunately I don't have the time anymore to figure out how to do all this myself as I am rapidly approaching the end of my free time this summer and will be back in college full time in the fall. VLC would be a nice addition! I too think this needs documentation. On Wed, Aug 12, 2009 at 5:08 AM, Orvar Korvar <knatte_fnatte_tjatte at yahoo.com> wrote: Ok, so I download all those codecs and VLC will automatically use them. I guess I have to make VLC point to them codecs, via settings or so. However, Ive read on your link that I need ncurses, QT4, etc etc. If someone has managed to get this VLC package working, maybe you can summarize all the steps you took? e.g. 1. install ncurses, from opencsw 2. install QT4, from .... 3. Install codecs from link above 4. install VLC 5. config VLC 6. done.
