It seems that there is no binary for myspell/hunspess for use from the shell or within emacs, but only dictioneries. I've found a similar discussion here: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=107384&tstart=15
For the moment I use an older aspell package which works fine. The only downside is that the update manager keeps reminding me that there are updates.
