Hi Ginn, It's too bad Alfred left Sun, but thank heavens that you are still on the job. I hope that he wasn't laid off, as I heard will happen to 3,000 Sun employees because of problems with the Oracle acquisition.
Thank you for your advice: it worked. LD_LIBRARY_PATH has always been set in my csh .login. Commenting out that line in .login fixed the Firefox start problem. Why did that env variable suddenly start causing a problem? It's been set for years, and FX has always worked. Maybe a Solaris and/or SunStudio patch changed something in this regard? Another program of mine suddenly wouldn't start a few days ago, and I had to add another library directory (/opt/sunstudio12.1/lib) to LD_LIBRARY_PATH to get it to work. Having to do that worried me. With LD_LIBRARY_PATH now unset, that other program now also works. What the... Does anyone have any ideas about what is happening? Some say that LD_LIBRARY_PATH should never be set: http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Admin/ld-lib-path.html Thanks again, Ginn! -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
