harry, sorry to hear your experience wasn't as expected. however the items you mention are very easy to accomplish under opensolaris:
1. to setup your network interface with a static IP address, simply select 'Network' from the System->Administration menu. a dialog box will ask if you want to use manual setup. once you've said yes, you'll get a nice 'Network Settings' GUI where you click on the interface in question, click the 'properties' button, and configure your static IP address in the resultant dialog. done. 2. if you need to setup two monitors, you'll find the 'Display' control panel under System->Preferences not System->Administration normally this takes less than two minutes to complete, not hours. in future you might try the help mailing list. quite a few of the sun developers watch there to help new users with initial setup problems. -- eldee -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
