Okay. I've attached my output. This is after I'd previous removed SUNWcodeina and done another gnome-cleanup. Note that if I logged out after this "failsafe" session, then logged in again (but this time with a GNOME session rather than an xterm terminal window), then my desktop seemed to work just fine (i.e. didn't hang).
