I've restored my b8 copy, and tried it anyway, having taken a backup of everything this time. Starting with no profile (I deleted ~/.mozilla/firefox), I get "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem."

Is there anything else I can do to help track this problem down ? I'd like to help fix this problem. Note that this machine is running Oracle Solaris 11 Express snv_151a X86, the same upgrade works fine on my laptop running OpenIndiana 148 at home. There are, no doubt, other differences between the two machines (like this machine has nVidia graphics, my laptop has ATI). Any thoughts ? Am I the only one having issues ?
Update. Looking through bugzilla, there are a number of comments about network file systems. One difference between these two machines is that the working one is using local (ZFS) storage, and the broken one is using NFSv4 storage from a Solaris 10 box. The local storage there is UFS. An interesting comment from the SQLite site:

"SQLite uses POSIX advisory locks to implement locking on Unix... One should note that POSIX advisory locking is known to be buggy or even unimplemented on many NFS implementations (including recent versions of Mac OS X) and that there are reports of locking problems for network filesystems under Windows. Your best defense is to not use SQLite for files on a network filesystem. "

I think locking should be okay between Solaris 11 Express and Solaris 10, over NFSv4, though. And what has changed between b8 and b9 ?
