Hi John,

I personally don't use dial-up for a long time, so my responses
probably won't be 100% accurate. But hope it helps.

1) Unfortunately network-admin is broken for dial-up connections, which is bad.
2) IIRC pppd should be sudo'ed root:
# chmod +s /usr/sbin/pppd
This should make dialing available for non-root users. If it doesn't
happen, try chmod +s `which wvdial`
3) Dial-up connections doesn't overwrite /etc/resolv.conf, which is
waaaaay bad. Try erasing the existant /etc/resolv.conf and dial to the
net again.

Anyway, we really need to improve our dial-up support... :/
