3) What is expected to happen in Writer in a blank document is when
one types 1st, 2nd, or 3rd the text is converted to superscript
automatically.
4) What happens instead is it does not. This is in spite of the
options enabled as per screenshot

O.S: Xubuntu 12.04 LTS. Reproducible in Lubuntu.
I have installed the latest PPA version - 3.5.3-rc2-0ubuntu1~ppa2(precise),
still happens.
