On Lubuntu I have methodically isolated the cause of *my* problem to the following plugin: 'EDS Contact Integration'. Thing is, it's a default plugin.
When I enable this plugin tbird starts but the instant I click on a folder it crashes. Sometimes I need to click on a few folders (but so far, never more than 3. I'm not sure why this can be). When I disable it this behaviour is not present, even after much clicking. I was brought here due to my original bug (bug #1061958) being made a duplicate of this one. Some dbus - error about not accessable evolution settings. After installing "evolution-data-server-common". The error message was more elaborate, but the error persisted. After installing "evolution-data-server" and restarting Thunderbird, the error was gone. I uninstalled "evolution-data-server-common" and "evolution-data- server" afterwards. The error is gone, it seems to me that the bug was caused by the automatic upgrade to Thundrbird 15.
