As a user, I also agree that the patch should be reviewed. I have yet to see a valid reason for not reviewing the patch - it having been submitted while in code freeze has no relevance to the code itself, and while the size of the patch might mean that it will take a while to review, it is still better to do that sooner rather than later. It does not look like the patch is going to get smaller any time soon.
