-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132629 Title: OpenGL no longer functioning Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I'm running a new install of Ubuntu 12.10 (uname -a: Linux nehemiah 3.5.0-25-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 18 23:27:42 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). Everything was working fine until I lost power unexpectedly (my cat tripped the power strip switch...). When I rebooted, Unity refused to load after logging in. I think I had some updates pending reboot (I'm not sure which packages), so I'm not sure whether the change is due to something getting jolted by the improper shutdown or something wrong with the updated packages when the system came back up. Messages in .xsession-errors (attached, along with Xorg.0.log) suggest that it's some problem with OpenGL. When Compiz tries to load the opengl plugin, I get: compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: opengl X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 22 Current serial number in output stream: 22 compiz (core) - Info: Unity is not supported by your hardware. Enabling software rendering instead (slow). compiz (core) - Info: Starting plugin: opengl Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0 compiz (core) - Error: Plugin initScreen failed: opengl compiz (core) - Error: Failed to start plugin: opengl compiz (core) - Info: Unloading plugin: opengl I've tried re-installing the graphics drivers with: apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-video-intel libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri xserver-xorg-core dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg reboot But, this hasn't fixed the problem. I'm not sure what else to try. --- ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu10 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: quantal DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: fglrx-updates, 9.000, 3.5.0-24-generic, x86_64: installed fglrx-updates, 9.000, 3.5.0-25-generic, x86_64: installed rtlwifi, 0007.0809.2012, 3.5.0-24-generic, x86_64: installed rtlwifi, 0007.0809.2012, 3.5.0-25-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:2211] MachineType: CompuLab Intense-PC MarkForUpload: True Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-25-generic root=UUID=ff35e90b-d89d-4c7c-aaea-45b90f8c77b8 ro splash quiet vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-25.38-generic 3.5.7.4 Tags: quantal ubuntu Uname: Linux 3.5.0-25-generic x86_64 UnitySupportTest: Error: command [u'/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test', u'-p', u'-f'] failed with exit code 1: X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 22 Current serial number in output stream: 22 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo dmi.bios.date: 11/25/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. dmi.bios.version: CR_2.2.0.346 X64 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: Intense-PC dmi.board.vendor: CompuLab Ltd. dmi.board.version: 1.x dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 9 dmi.chassis.vendor: CompuLab Ltd. dmi.chassis.version: 1.x dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLtd.:bvrCR_2.2.0.346X64:bd11/25/2012:svnCompuLab:pnIntense-PC:pvr1.x:rvnCompuLabLtd.:rnIntense-PC:rvr1.x:cvnCompuLabLtd.:ct9:cvr1.x: dmi.product.name: Intense-PC dmi.product.version: 1.x dmi.sys.vendor: CompuLab version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.8.6-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.39-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.0-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.99.99~git20120913.8637f772-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1132629/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
