Public bug reported: Hi I've 2 laptop one with intel integrated graphic card and one with nvidia card. Both freeze randomly the gnome shell session (only the mouse move) and I have to restart the session from the console, usually with`restart lightdm`
I've noticed that installing the propetary driver from nvidia (v 319) this doesn't happen anymore. The other laptop instead with the intel kernel continue to crash Thank you ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-14.21-generic 3.11.7 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-14-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, mousepoll, vpswitch, regex, animation, snap, expo, move, compiztoolbox, place, grid, imgpng, gnomecompat, wall, ezoom, workarounds, staticswitcher, resize, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, scale, session, unityshell] CompositorRunning: None Date: Fri Dec 13 16:54:06 2013 DistUpgraded: 2013-11-10 14:02:53,456 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: saucy DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:0504] InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-09-07 (828 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110427.1) MachineType: Acer Aspire 5750 MarkForUpload: True ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-14-generic root=UUID=4a926ac0-b244-4ffd-8e79-5395c70bf5ff ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-11-10 (33 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 03/02/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: Acer dmi.bios.version: V1.07 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: JE50_HR dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.board.version: Base Board Version dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.version: V1.07 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAcer:bvrV1.07:bd03/02/2011:svnAcer:pnAspire5750:pvrV1.07:rvnAcer:rnJE50_HR:rvrBaseBoardVersion:cvnAcer:ct10:cvrV1.07: dmi.product.name: Aspire 5750 dmi.product.version: V1.07 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.10+13.10.20131011-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.46-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.2.1-1ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.2.1-1ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.14.3-3ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu3.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.2.0-0ubuntu10 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.904-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.9-2ubuntu1 xserver.bootTime: Fri Dec 13 16:00:17 2013 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: product id 9964 vendor AUO xserver.version: 2:1.14.3-3ubuntu2 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug saucy ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1260785 Title: Gnome freeze Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi I've 2 laptop one with intel integrated graphic card and one with nvidia card.
