Title:
Ubuntu 12.04 crashes at irregular intervals

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 from 11.10 about a week ago and have been
experiencing crashes for no reason that reset to login screen.

I have a i7 2.4 GHz HP Elite tower with 8 GB RAM and am using a Acer
AL1715 monitor and two 1 TB HDs.

Sometimes the crashes happen when I am using graphics programs like
Google Maps in Chrome, but sometimes just suddenly without warning
when I am using LibreOfffice Writer or Cal or Adobe pdf or Skype...in
other words without just about any programme. I leave the computer on
all the time and it does appear to crash when it is idle. I don't
think there is a exact tiem between crashes but they seem to happen
about every two or three hours.
