I think I'm getting similar behavior to this bug, but I'm using LXDE, not GNOME. Occasionally, when I resume my laptop (Acer Aspire V5) from suspend, the graphics flicker from the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen. Switching to the console and back (CTRL-ALT-F1, then CTRL- ATL-F7) makes the flicker go away. I never had this problem before upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04.
