I'm sorry about not getting back to you on this.. the machine in question
is dead, so I can't verify one way or the other.

Title:
Installing nvidia-361 leaves me unable to log in

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have never successfully gotten the nvidia drivers to work properly.
Before I used nvidia-304 because that seemed to be the only driver
other than Nouveau that worked... the other nvidia drivers just give
  me a black screen

  With nvidia-361 I get a different outcome:
I get to the login screen, and when I try to log in, it kicks me back out to
the login screen.

The only thing that I can do to resolve this is Ctrl-Alt-F1, log in,
and try to undo anything that I just broke.

So there are a number of things that look wrong in the logs, and I am
willing to provide any necessary information, or try things.
