We believe this bug has been fixed by lirc updates since 0.6.0. In
particular, the last release 0.9.4 does not rebuild lirc in any way and
these kind of problems just cannot occur (not to say other probklems
couldn't).

Please let us know if you are still interested in this. Otherwise,
without further input, let's close this bug.

Title:
  LIRC MCE USB Config Crash

Status in lirc package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: lirc

Release: Ubuntu maverick (development branch) / 10.10
Pack Type / Version: LIRC 0.8.6-0ubuntu5
Expected To Happen - LIRC installed and configured a Windows Media Center
Transceivers /Remotes all device
  Actual Results -

When attempting to install LIRC either by apt-get in a terminal and by
package manager it gets to the configuration option of the
installationwhere you select the type of remote control you have and
  when you select the device as;

"Windows Media Center Transceivers /Remotes all"

the install of LIRC crashes and hangs on "Installing Modules".

If you select different remotes in the configuration options of LIRC
it will then get past "Installing Modules" and complete the install of
LIRC but obviously the remote in question does not work as its the
  wrong remote type.

This leads me to the conclusion that it is only the "Windows Media
Center Transceivers /Remotes all" option that is causing LIRC to fail
  its final configuration.
