Public bug reported: In 17.10, activating appindicators extension doesn't show icons on the top. However, activating topicons plus does. I know I'm running little apps/indicators, because they show whenever i activate topicons. Whenever I activate ubuntu appindicators, nothing happens, can't access the apps in any way.
