OK, thanks for being awake. Plenty of users will employ the wrong
wording so we always have to ask...

I *think* that gnome-shell-extension-appindicator is meant to be
activated by default in 17.10. It just looks disabled due to bug 1718850
and bug 1236749. Please check those out.

** Changed in: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New

** Package changed: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell-extension-
appindicator (Ubuntu)

Title:
  ubuntu appindicators don't indicate.

Status in gnome-shell-extension-appindicator package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  In 17.10, activating appindicators extension doesn't show icons on the
  top. However, activating topicons plus does. I know I'm running little
  apps/indicators, because they show whenever i activate topicons.
  Whenever I activate ubuntu appindicators, nothing happens, can't
  access the apps in any way.
