Hello Jorgen,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 597761

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
  Replies are sometimes HTML

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

When replying to a message, Thunderbird sometimes opens the editor for
HTML messages rather than for plain text - even though I have
unchecked "new messages as HTML" in the account configuration.

When creating a new message, the plain text editor is correctly
  opened.

Apparently, this problem somehow depends on the message I try to reply
to; for the same message, the same editor mode is always used. It does
not appear to depend on whether the sender is in the Address Book or
not, as my Address Book is empty and I have disabled collection of
  sender addresses.

Also, I have not been able to establish a pattern between this problem
and the format of the message I try to reply to.

As a workaround, I can shift-click reply, but that is annoyning in the
  long run.

  Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
  thunderbird: 3.0.4+nobinonly-0ubuntu4
