A subsequent login puts me in "dumb software mode." I'm using kernel parameter acpi_rev_override=5 as without it shutdown doesn't work. Problem is reproducible with and without this parameter. WORKAROUND: Uninstall the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package and login to GNOME Wayland session.
