Ok. I started with using only "Chinese (Pinyin)", which works just fine. I then opened "Language and Region" setting, removed "Chinese (Pinyin)" and added "Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin)". Now the system bar shows "Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin)" is selected. I tried to input Chinese into the following inputs in various applications and they all not work. I tried using "shift".
- text area in Chrome browser (this comment) - URL in Chrome browser - gedit - shell (ctrl+alt+t) - LibreOffice Write Just some guess, I previously installed & used fcitx & Google Pinyin. Is that a problem? I understand if this problem seems only relate to my particular settings and you guys have priorities, that's fine. However if you wish to get to the bottom of this problem, let me know what else I can do. If I only install "Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin)", after pressing 'super+space' input is switched to Pinyin (can be seen from the icon on system bar). However it still input English directly. Even if I tried 'shift' button it's still the same. If I install "Chinese (Pinyin)" it works all perfect. If I install both "Chinese (Pinyin)" and "Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin)", both works. So, seems something is missing? Something required by Intelligent Pinyin but only installed with Pinyin?
