any other site like Duolingo

Is there some error or warning in Chromium's interface, or is it that
the services simply don't seem to catch the audio from your microphone?
In the bug description you say

> just saying that there is no internet connection,

so could you get a screen shot of that message, please?

What could also help is to open a terminal, execute 'snap run chromium
--enable-logging=stderr' and paste the output here if there is anything
microphone related.

The audio-record interface is connect so that part is as expected. You
have pipewire installed, I assume? You can check that by typing 'dpkg
-l|grep pipewire' in a terminal.
