I support that emulator port needs to be counted along with device port. If we are preparing the next android version porting, we need to start that versioned emulator as well. Nevertheless, in consideration of our resource reality and focus, I'd say simply chasing every single android version is not a good way for us, for the quality, we can't really afford that. I think we need to be able to answer first - how and what we determine when we would want to use which newer AOSP version.

As for me Aries is going to move to L at some point (once Camera bugs are fixed on AOSP version) so it make sense to have emulator-x86-L to test against that version.

Aren't the bugs going to be fixed on M?

If we just want to have a later release, emulator-x86-KK has been

If we would like to put the efforts on emulator porting for the
newer android version, it seem to be better to spend efforts on
    the latest one.
If we don't want to use the latest Android Version(M), what is
different between using KK and using L or what features force us
    to use L?

Given that we currently only run emulator tests on ICS
            (!!), yes running
emulator-L would be a big progress. And we don't even have
            M ports yet,
            right?
