I'm not counting them. I'm frustrated by having to change my tab settings
every time I load their code in, since the first layer of indentation
disappears. I'm frustrated by having to hit spaces or tabs to figure out
how to match their indentation style when I'm patching their code. It's
frustrating, and gets in the way of getting the job done. So that I can go
out and have a life ;-)
I'm not asking for a lot. I'm asking for (assuming vi)
vi *.cgi *.pm
s/ /^V[tab]/g
vi .exrc
set tabstop=4
Viola: the code looks the same to them and isn't something we're constantly
having to reset our editor preferences to work around.
