Its not part of the development pipeline - yet. OpenSRS policy has to
change before it can get on the development list...and that's what we're
working on now.

We didn't implement it early because it was "hard to code", "hard to
police", etc... and not as an important feature as say "transfers" and a
number of other competing priorities. Other registrars place different
priorities on different things which is why you will always see
differences in the various features. I think overall that most of you
would agree that not having deletes until later this year is a
reasonable compromise for all of the things that you did get in the past
two ;)
