Yes, you're paying.

I'm sure they'd build whatever API you'd like if you're willing to pay more.

You have to pick what you NEED.  Your comment about customer service is a good one.  I 
like the people at OpenSRS and I trust them to do the right thing, and if part of the 
cost is their API, then I'm okay with that.
