That's unfortunate since the professional VC2005, VC2008, VC2010 and now VC2013 compilers were always freely available, it was just the IDE that you had to pay for (or use the cut-down Express version which didn't include e.g. the just-in-time debugger or the SDK (which was freely available anyway)).
