We're behind IE10 and Chrome 43 in implementing this feature [1], so at some level there will be existing content we need to deal with. Interoperability with how they behave would be a win.
Ideally, whatever we do to protect our users can make it back to Hallvord to spec and other implementers to match, otherwise Flash-for-clipboard-access won't be going anywhere.
