    Hello Everyone,

Next week we are starting three projects in our community that were
    sponsored by Outreachy. (https://www.outreachy.org/). Outreachy
provides internships in open source to people subject to systemic bias
and impacted by underrepresentation in the technical industry where
    they are living.

There are three projects we start
    (https://www.outreachy.org/alums/2021-12/) and there are three
co-mentors for those: Elad Kal, Nasser Kaze (who is Outreachy intern
alumni and Apache Fineract commiter). and myself.

    * Convert Airflow Local Development environment (Breeze) from
Bash-based to Python-based - the intern here is Bowrna:
    https://github.com/Bowrna
    * Rewrite Github Action workflows to Python - the intern is Edith
    https://github.com/edithturn
    * Add Open-Telemetry support for Apache Airflow (this is a
Research/POC project to see what we can do with Open-Telemetry) - the
    intern is Melodie https://github.com/Melodie97/

The projects will run till March, I'd like to welcome the interns to
    our community.

They already did some initial "exploratory" contributions.

I have a kind request to help our interns feel welcome in the
community - any help, review, suggestions and encouragement is welcome
(but I think this is something we try to be with for everyone so I do
not think any special treatment is necessary).

More information for all the projects will follow using the usual
    channels - slack, PRs, issues.

    J.
