Note: The project uses Gradle 8.x; I did not test against older versions, and 
Gradle 9 is known to not work due to dependency issues.

If your system Gradle is not 8.x, instead of “gradle build”, it is recommend to 
regenerate the wrapper instead:

    gradle wrapper --gradle-version 8.14.4 --gradle-distribution-sha256-sum 
7d3a4ac4de1c32b59bc6a4eb8ecb8e612ccd0cf1ae1e99f66902da64df296172

    ./gradlew build

You can verify Gradle’s SHA256 sum provided above here: 
https://gradle.org/release-checksums/#8.14.4
