Konstantin Boudnik commented on BIGTOP-1110:
--------------------------------------------

bq. some time in 2017 and in extended support till 2020. I think we all concur
on the fact that Bigtop is not just a integration platform for Hadoop ecosystem
but is also a distribution of the same.

Mark, we have very limited resources and please keep in mind that our official
release is a bunch of source code - not the binary packages (which are called
'convenience artifacts' for a reason). Besides, Redhat did lotta work around
the what they call proper packaging of Hadoop which _never_ been contributed
here. But that aside, RHEL5 is getting an extreme PITA to deal with because it
is outdated, hard to find dev tools for, etc. So, I am all in favor of dropping
the dead weight and makes the life of this community easier.
